Come and enjoy a profound evening of music and remembrance on Wednesday, September 11, at 6:30 PM at the Lincolnwood Public Library. The Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of its founder and music director, Philip Simmons, will present “Violins of Hope – A Night of Remembrance.” This special concert will feature American music and works by composers who perished in the Holocaust.

Philip Simmons, who has conducted in twenty-two countries and performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Center, the Musikverein, and the Great Halls of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and Saint Petersburg Philharmonia, brings his vast experience and passion to this event. As the Artistic Director of American Music Festivals and Resident Conductor for the Orchestra of the Hawaiian Islands, Simmons has dedicated his career to enriching audiences through powerful performances and unique programs. Under his direction, the Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra has become a beacon of cultural enrichment.

The evening will begin with speakers from the Jewish Community Center of Chicago, who will introduce several World War II-era violins, carefully restored by “Violins of Hope.” These historic instruments, which will be played during the concert, serve as powerful symbols of hope, resilience, and the enduring spirit of those who suffered during the Holocaust.
