A Unique Perspective
The Tour de Houston isn’t just a bike race; it’s a chance for Houstonians and visitors alike to explore our city’s historic neighborhoods, scenic districts, and parks. With three ride length options, from leisurely to challenging, participants experience Houston from a unique vantage point.
The 17th edition of the race took place on April 7th, 2024, and it served as a fundraiser for the city’s RE-Plant Houston Program, which aims to plant thousands of trees across the city. As cyclists pedaled through the streets, they knew they were part of something special. The post-ride party at Discovery Green buzzed with excitement—music, free food, and camaraderie filled the air. Mayor Whitmire’s vision had come to life.
Mayor Whitmire said of the event on his Instagram: “Today, I was fired up to welcome 2300 riders for the Tour de Houston annual bike riding fundraiser sponsored by @apachecorporation Thank you to all of the incredible volunteers, supporters and riders for your passion and support to build a greener Houston! Ever since Apache’s support as a sponsor for this annual event, over 500 thousand trees have been planted in Greater Houston area (since 2005). I look forward to seeing even more green spaces, trees, and bike riders around our great City! 🌳🚴♀️🚲”
