Samir has officially completed 6 of his 8 marathons with extra compressed weights equal to a 73.5 lbs weighted vest! His fifth marathon is TODAY in Los Angeles, CA at the LA Marathon.
Becic will be running 8 full Marathons in an 8-week time frame between January 14, 2018, and March 11, 2018, wearing compressed weights equivalent to 73.5 pounds weighted vest. When the 73.5-pound vest is multiplied by 1.6 to make it equivalent to human weight, it equals 117.6 pounds. With Becic weighing in at 215 pounds, the total load on his body will equal 332.6 pounds.
Samir started his mega challenge with the Houston Marathon and will finish with his final marathon being the “I Ran Flagships Marathons Bosnia and Herzegovina” trail marathon.
Becic completed the full 26.2-mile Chevron Houston Marathon on January 14th, 2018, wearing a compressed weighted vest and shorts equivalent to 73.5 pounds or an 118 lbs living body. Finish Line 26.2 Miles:
Samir has officially finished his 7th marathon with a time of 5:35.41!
Marathon 7 in 7 weeks wearing the equivalent of an extra 73.5lbs weighted vest is finished with my best time yet of 5:35! My journey of running weekly marathons at an obese weight in order to raise obesity awareness has been far from easy, but YOU ALL motivate me! #LAMarathon2018 pic.twitter.com/2bkugmc6i7

Mile 20:
Samir is feeling good going into the last 6 miles of this marathon! He says the energy is great at the LA Marathon and it’s keeping him pumped up. His right hip is still bothering him and he has purposely slowed down his pace a bit to avoid injuring it.
Half-marathon 13.1 Miles:
Samir is getting motivated by the fit runners around him in LA and just completed half of this marathon in his fastest time yet of 2:28! His left ankle is bothering, as is his right hip, which is a first. He admits that this journey of 7 marathons has been much more difficult and exhausting than he could have imagined but that he really hopes that he’s motivated people to get more active and start moving more!
6.5 Miles:
Samir is feeling good- and in much less pain than his last marathon in the Woodlands! He’s noticing how fit people in LA are, which is motivating him to keep going and take less breaks.
5K/3 Mile Mark:
Samir is on a fast pace with a 10:10 min/mile for his first 3 miles.
