This year’s 5th annual Houston Sports Awards was held on April 20, 2022, at Wortham Center. The “Deuces Wild” celebration for the most prominent “22’s” of Houston sports was hosted by Legendary Sports Anchor, Hannah Storm. Roger Clemens, Clyde Drexler, and Sheryl Swoopes were inducted into the Houston “Sports Hall of Fame”, Kelvin Sampson was awarded “Coach of the Year” and his University of Houston Cougars advancing to the Final Four won as the “Best Moment of the Year”. The Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed on longtime sports announcer, Bill Worrell.
The Houston Sports Awards presented by Insperity was created in 2018 by the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority to celebrate the most accomplished athletes, coaches, teams, contributors, and moments in the Houston Sports Community. Health Fitness Revolution commends the Harris County Sports Authority for throwing such an incredible event commemorating Houston sports this year with special recognition for their board of directors: Chairman of the Board J. Kent Friedman, Vice Chairman Lawrence R. Catuzzi, Secretary Dr. Laura Murillo, Treasurer Robert Woods, and directors Willie J. Alexander, Chad Burke, Joseph Alan Callier, Cindy Clifford, Zina Garrison, Nomaan K. Husain, Martye M. Kendrick.
