In a heartfelt tweet, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner wished Health Fitness Revolution founder Samir Becic a happy birthday (he was born on the bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1976)! In the tweet, he thanks Samir for his years of friendship and voices how thankful he is to Samir for being such a great ambassador for health in Houston- he says “[I’m] truly grateful that you continue to be great health ambassador for our city.”
I hope my friend @SamirBecic had a wonderful birthday over the weekend.

And he’s not wrong, Samir has worked tirelessly at improving Houstonians’ health and fitness for over two decades, motivating residents to get active with his extreme fitness challenges, seminars, volunteer work, and utilizing his position as the “fitness Czar” to the fourth largest city in America for positive change.
Additionally, the City of Houston’s HR Director, Jane E Cheeks wished Samir a Happy Birthday on Facebook, as did Jeff Syptak, Mayor Turner’s Admin Specialist.
Most recently, Samir hiked 464 miles in Aspen, CO in celebration of his 46th birthday– 10 miles for each year he’s been alive (10 x 46= 460 miles) with a 55lbs+ backpack- on rugged, steep terrain (up to 47% incline). As Houston’s Official “Fitness Czar”, Samir did this long hike in an effort to encourage and motivate Americans to be more active, walk, hike, and get outdoors.
