On July 13, 2022, an off-duty firefighter, who we now know is 27-year old Aaron Shinn, was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical, but stable, condition after a motorcycle wreck on FM 529 and Westgreen Boulevard. It was reported that the driver of the other vehicle was attempting to make an u-turn without yielding to other motorists. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident.

According to his GoFundMe, “Aaron suffered multiple pelvic fractures, internal bleeding, and trauma as a result of the incident. Thankfully Aaron was wearing his helmet. He has undergone multiple major surgeries and is expected to undergo more on his road to recovery.”

Aaron Shinn has been serving his community for more than 10 years. He works as a full-time firefighter with Rosehill Fire Department and a Volunteer Lieutenant with Cy-Fair Fire Department.

Eddie Cruz, a spokesperson for the Cy-Fair Fire Department, said he is expected to have a full, albeit lengthy, recovery. It should be stressed that the firefighter was wearing a helmet, crediting that with possibly saving his life.
