Since it was announced in 2018 that the USA, Mexico, and Canada had been chosen to host the 2026 World Cup, a long list of cities have been vying at the chance of being host cities. Chris Canetti (who we previously profiled here), as President of Houston 2026 World Cup Bid Committee is in charge of Houstonโs bid as they look to secure the rights to hosting some of the matches.

In an exclusive interview with Express, Canetti outlined why Houston has the makings of a perfect host city: โFirst and foremost, I want to point out that Houston is the fourth largest city in the United States […]itโs the largest city in the state of Texas. We have hosted more major sporting events than any other host candidate city since 2004, Super Bowls, Final Fours, major football matches that have come through on the international side over the years. We like to call ourselves operationally ready. In part, itโs due to our vast experience in hosting events and itโs also connected to the world-class infrastructure we have in place.โ
This is the #SpiritofHouston!!!
